The Determining Factors of Successful Classroom Management
These days, most of the teachers are suffering from poor classroom management. This issue may not be taken seriously by some educators but you should always bear in mind that it poses a serious threat to the education of the students and the productivity of the entire class. When your classroom is poorly managed, you can hardly get students to listen to you and you will never have an interactive discussion about your lectures. That can also lead to poor results because you will never be an effective educator when you cannot manage your classroom well. But how can you determine if there is successful classroom management?
There are determining factors to test whether there is successful management in a classroom and one of them is quietness. When the students are quiet, it could be because they are being attentive to what their teacher is talking about. That means that a quiet classroom often means that everyone is listening following with the lecture like how they are expected to do so. That also means that they have a better chance of learning things because they are not talking with others or doing other unnecessary stuff. With that in mind, it is also expected that a quiet class is a productive class because the students are absorbing every bit of information that they get from their teacher.
Aside from the quietness of the students, you can also determine if a class has successful management when the students are well behaved. A quiet class is not always a guarantee that the students are being attentive to the lecture because it all depends on their behavior and what they are doing. When your class is well behaved, you can make sure that you will be able to teach all the necessary learning that they need effectively. Proper behavior does not always mean that your students are quiet because it also means interactive discussions like answering questions when they are asked and proper exchange of ideas whenever needed. Therefore, you should also look into the behavior of your students because that is how you can make sure that you are doing a good job as a teacher.
An effective teacher that practices successful classroom management usually earns the respect of the students. That means that when the students are being courteous with you and don’t talk negatively behind your back, you are doing a good job with your lectures and discussions. Therefore, you should apply the specific techniques and strategies in keeping successful classroom management in all of your classes. As much as possible, you should also encourage your students to talk most especially if they have ideas in mind relating to the topic that you are discussing. That way, you can make sure that everything goes well in your classroom and you are successful in promoting proper learning and exchange of ideas.
Teaching is a calling that not everyone can practice. It is more on imparting knowledge and all other important values to your students rather than simply feeding them with information and testing their skills in memorizing them for the exams. That means that you should always apply proper classroom management techniques to achieve this goal.
